CALLING IN SICK

They say that laughter is the best medicine...I could use a little right now!

I've been a little under the weather the last couple of days. Sorry for my absence. My littlest love was sick all last week, so after a week of trying to keep everyone else healthy, I ended up being the one to get sick. What can you do? Thankfully my saint of a husband has been helping me with all my usual 'mommy' duties, while I slept off this bug.

Today, I was back on duty. The day was filled with cartoon watching, catching up on laundry, resting and most of all trying to get back to 100%. Not much to report my friends. Thankfully, the weather has been what one would hope for, if one wanted to lounge around the house in a blanket. I also made my favorite 'sick day' pick me up. Some home made abondigas...basically for those unfamiliar with this wonderful treat, it's a Mexican meatball soup. It's yummy, my mom makes it the best, my husband a very close second, but what I love about it is that I usually have the ingredients on hand.

I hope your week is off to a much healthier start than mine dear friends!

Thinking healthy!

CEREAL AND NERDS

Day four of Henry being sick. He seems to be doing better, hasn't turned the corner yet but I know it's close! Steve stayed home to help me, which I greatly appreciate because it's been quite a task juggling a healthy baby and sick toddler at the same time. I had to send Steve to the store to get some medicine and juice for Henry and to my surprise he returned with several boxes of arguably un-needed cereal.
At first I was told "They were on sale," which normally gets my approval, but upon further inspection I got to the real reason...
and like a little boy he yelled out "I hope I get Darth Maul!" and with that he was digging in to find his prize...
Queen Amidala...what little boy wouldn't be excited?
At least now he has a summer goal...to collect all 8! Although he tells me he doesn't really need Jar Jar (oh Jar Jar, nobody loves you but me).
Today's Reflection:
Sometimes we don't always get what we want, when we want it. I've had many moments in my life where I wanted something to happen and it just didn't, even when I prayed for it, I still wasn't given it. I find it extremely comforting, and lovely actually, that even when my circumstances seem bad and undesirable, God is in a way wooing me. He's whispering, "don't worry it may look bad, but I've got it all worked out, just stick with me kid" Stick with him, trust in him, know that although my son was not healed immediately he was listening when I prayed. To know that he hears me can be comforting in itself.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen.  If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

IS IT FRIDAY YET?

We probably had a little too much fun last week. My son is fighting a bug and we're hoping that it runs it's course quickly and leaves us as quietly as it came. It's awful having a little one sick, as a parent there can be a feeling of helplessness but I know some of you have been praying for us. I can feel it and believe me it's been helping us get through this and I'm so grateful for your prayers and for God covering us right now.

Usually I'm not one of those "Is it Friday, yet?" people, but Friday and a healthy son would be nice right about now! Until then, I'll leave you on a happy note, pictures from last Friday and one of the best things in the world...Concert in the Park!
Lucia's first and she loved it!
and what's not to love? Not only did we get to hear some great music, we got to spend some time with a few of our favorite people...

Today's Reflections:
There are good times and not so good times. It's definitely easy to love God on those good days, on the 'Fridays' when everyone is cuddling and the music is playing and there's a perfect breeze. Lord, today on a day where we're battling something I want to praise you. I know you are here, I know you are listening and even though it's not a 'Friday' I can say thank you, you are good and you are the same loving God, 7 days a week!
