ORIENTATION DAY

There are no rules. Today we have lunch with the animals.
I feel like I'm still trying to figure out this motherhood gig. When I started any other job they always gave me orientation, a handbook, something. I'm starting to realize that there will be no orientation. I have to make the most of this, it's up to me what I do. So I'm choosing to have picnics at the zoo...
and some of the greatest moments and conversations with my little monkeys while we have our picnic...

Today's Reflection:
Some days I look for some guidance, someone to ask, "am I doing this right?" I see other moms, waking up early, jogging, drinking coffee with friends, running errands before I am even out of my pajamas. I think, am I doing this all wrong? I have thought will I be more efficient if wake up earlier? I'm not a morning person, I am cranky in the mornings and it takes a least a good couple of hours before my bed head settles down. Maybe there are no rules, and maybe I can wake up late and have a picnic lunch in the zoo with my little loves. Maybe we can laugh and tell knock knock jokes. Maybe this is our right.

"You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him."
-Deuteronomy 13:4

I like this scripture, sometimes you look for an orientation packet and discover, it was there the whole time.

LOVING WHERE YOU'RE AT MONDAY

Sometimes you can go somewhere a million times, wearing it out in your mind like you would your favorite tennis shoes, then you get some new laces and BAM! New shoes. Okay, I might be reaching on that one, but my point was Henry and I took his daddy to the Sacramento Zoo for the first time. We've been so many times and we have our normal routine, it was fun taking Steve with us this time and sharing all the things we love about the zoo.

The Orangutans were Steve's favorite. I personally don't trust them after seeing 'Rise of the Apes' and then having a monkey punch the glass right in front of my son, scaring the poor boy! They are entertaining though...I'll give them that.

Sometimes you just need a fresh perspective to remember how much you love where you're at...or some yummy Merlino's...either way, the zoo + my loves + Merlino's = loving where you're at...always!!
Today's Reflection:
Lord, thank you for some fresh perspective and the opportunity to share something I love with those I love. What else do I need some fresh perspective on? What else have I just let become a part of the daily grind that I forget the reason I love it in the first place?

LOVING WHERE YOU'RE AT MONDAY

Becoming a mom has opened up a new world to me.  I am blessed to be a stay at home mom.  I use to spend my days stuck at a desk, and now my days are spent hanging with my kids, finding new places to go and see.  I want to teach them to love where they come from, learn to appreciate the things our beautiful city has to offer.  My sister who is my Partner in Crime when it comes to all things Mommy, recently gave us a zoo membership.  We packed our lunch and spent the day at the zoo.  It was amazing weather and all the animals were out for us to see!

The lions are his current favorite, he's perfecting his roar.  We were lucky enough to have the king of the jungle out, playing and climbing.

It was my little Lucia's first trip to the zoo, I think she enjoyed the fresh air!

We ended the day downtown at Weatherstone and although it was too busy to sit inside it was the kind of fall evening you'd like to enjoy outside.  Henry experienced his first hot chocolate.  I think he has fun carrying around a mini version of Mommy's coffee cup, plus it's good bonding time, nothing like people watching, chatting and sipping on a nice warm drink!
