TURNING 5

Short post tonight. I love my husband. Our marriage turned 5 this month. Did we do anything special? Why yes...yes we did. We went to our favorite spot...Tahoe...and we relaaaaaxed! We sat by the pool and hot tub, morning and night, we ate and beach bummed it up. Oh and did I already tell you that I love that man of mine? Yeah? Well, did I tell you you can see all my photos I took on the trip? Go on click the video below...you'll see...don't worry, it's not long!

(I thought I'd try something new...I hope that worked for you...my apologies if it didn't!)

Today's Reflection:
I love the story of how God created Eve. I think it's so beautiful to think that She was made for him from him. All you really need to do is add Sandra Bullock and you've got one heck of a love flick.
Lord, thank you, I am a part of Steve and he is a part of me. I didn't know that he was what I was missing, but you did. You made me for him and him for me...no other piece fits.

" And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
And Adam said:
“This is now bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."
-Genesis 2:21-24

HAPPY CAMPER

Well, we had a party over the weekend for my little birthday boy! I'm not sure what I was thinking when I decided to throw him a party, we've been so busy this month without a single free weekend and several out of town trips, but I love him and I'm a little crazy. As we all know, we do crazy things for those we love. But we pulled it off, in two days and one very late night before the party, we were able to print, cut, glue, dye, paint, nail and create "Camp Henry" As  you'll see by my little happy campers, it was worth it! Some quick details for those curious...I'm cheap and so is my husband, so we made just about all the decorations and utilized our own camping gear for the party. My parents were gracious enough to open up their beautiful backyard as the setting of our "campground" and hands down, the best smore combination is Mr.Goodbar + Marshmallow + original graham cracker...at least in my humble opinion it is!

and there you have it..."Camp Henry"

Today's Reflection:
We tried to make use of what we had for the party, talents, location, supplies and materials... Sometimes you can have everything you need just sitting in your garage. In a world where you can see the best party money can buy on a pinterest board, it's easy to get jaded and distracted with what others are doing, that you underestimate what you can do. There are some pretty incredible things that you and I can do, if we just looked in our garage...of course, you know I'm no longer talking about a party...I'm talking about the incredible things we can do, the good works we can achieve if we just looked at all the talents and skills and circumstances God's placed before us. There is a scripture that we have written on our Prayer board right now...I hope it can bring you a little encouragement as it has me...

"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. "
-Philippians 4:8

Meditate on these things. You might even find some of them in that "garage" of yours!

I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD!

Hello, my name is Serena and I have a 3 year old....
Oh MY!
Here's how we celebrated my little guy on his 3rd Birthday...
While he was sleeping Steve and I filled his room with balloons for him to wake up too...
He didn't understand what was going on and asked why I put balloons in his room, once I told him they were his and for his Birthday, he got pretty excited...
Lucia enjoyed the show...
Next on the agenda, Happy Birthday Pancakes with our Homies (that's right, I said "Homies" and I'm sticking to it!)...
an afternoon at the zoo...
and then my personal favorite...Happy Birthday Ice Cream...
Lucia pooped herself out and couldn't join us in ice cream...
So I covered for her...
after that we journeyed home where a Happy Birthday Nap was a bit of a joke, so instead I just prepared for my Henry's favorite...Happy Birthday Tacos!
Wrapped it all up with Happy Birthday Cake and Presents
My little Henry, 3 years old, my little light, my little love, don't know how we ever lived without you! Worth every sleepless night, every blow out diaper, every hormone that has made me crazy. I would give it all again and again for you! Happy Birthday! I don't know how our crazy family swung a kid like you...but I'm so thankful!
Today's Reflection:
Lord, you are awesome...thank you for a good day...thank you for birthday boys, and birthday smiles, birthday surprises, a good ol' Happy Birthday happiness! I could not have planned a better day if I tried!
