LIKE A GOOD BOOK

So it's been a little slow lately around our house. I'll admit, I have been rediscovering my love for reading. In the last week I have read all three of 'The Hunger Games' books. It started out as just wanting to find out what all the hype was about, but once I started I was hooked...
one after another I finished each book, reading in the car, during nap time, right before bed, fitting it in whenever I could. It reminded me of when I was a little girl and use to take my books everywhere I could including swimming!
The calm that reading a good book brings has spilled over into the rest of life. We've been taking walks, playing, relaxing, just taking some time to slow down with each other....

Today's Reflection:
It's funny because rediscovering my joy of reading a good book has made me think about my faith. I use to read all the time I would call myself a bookworm. For whatever reason, I slowly stopped reading as much, busy schedule, dry spell of books I just could not put down. Here's what I'm thinking, sometimes this can happen with our faith. When we are first coming in  to our faith we can be so excited, continually talking to God, captivated by everything God has to offer. Sometime though things start to change, become routine. Praying is on a schedule, before meals and right before we go to sleep, suddenly our conversations with God get pushed aside for other things in life.  We stop being so captivated. So slowly we put God on a shelf, and say, "I really need to get him off of there" but never do. Sometimes we need to remember the joy it can bring us, how much we love it and think like we did in the beginning, when nothing else got in the way and there was always time for God.  That's all I'm thinking...and I guess I'm wondering...you read any good books lately?

Lord, Thank you for being more captivating than any book could ever be!
